Hidden Gems: The Darkness

Posted by Zac  Published in Hidden Gems

Few things in life are as satisfying as carrying a pistol in each hand, stuffing the barrel into a mobsters mouth and pulling the trigger, and then summoning a black hole to take care of the rest of the guys in the room.  Well, in a video game, anyway.

Hidden Gems: Skies of Arcadia (DC, GCN)

Skies of Arcadia

Pirates?  In my RPG?  NO WAI!  Way.  Instead of sailing the seven seas however, you sail the skies in one of the most memorable RPGs of all time.  As a SEGA/Overworks game, this gem first appeared as an exclusive on the SEGA Dreamcast.  Later, it was ported to the Gamecube with some additions.  If you played it, you want a sequel.  If you want a sequel, you loved it (and hope that the sequel lives up to the expectations of the first).

Eternal Darkness

Eternal Darkness.  The game that actually toys with your mind.  Silicon Knights (the developers) truly did a remarkable job when it comes to story.  While the gameplay wasn’t particularly deep, the atmosphere and story kept players hooked until the end.  That is not to say that the gameplay was poor though, because it wasn’t.  Varied weapons and a "magick" system make combat fun.

Hidden Gems: Seaman (Dreamcast)

Posted by Vinny  Published in Hidden Gems

Seaman

A truly unique "game", if you can call it that.  Seaman is more like an interactive pet simulator rather than a game.  You would feed Seaman everyday and eventually converse with him with the included microphone attachment.  As each day passed, Seaman would evolve and begin to mature.  The more Seaman matured, the more in depth your conversations became.
