This week in video game news…
Nintendo
The Nintendo DSi
Well, the rumored DS redesign is true. The Nintendo DSi does away with the GBA slot in favor of a slimmer design. The screens are a tad bigger at 3.25 inches and the DSi also comes with a built in .3 Megapixel camera, a second lower resolution camera on the inside, and some “audio enhancements.” There’s also an SD slot in addition to an integrated browser. Yet another feature is the ability to download DSiWare from the DSi Shop. Pricing ranges from free to 800 points (but the DSi will be bundled with 1000 free points, good until March of 2010). The Japanese release date is November 1st at a retail price of ¥18,900 (USD$180). When are we getting it? “Sometime next year.”

Sony’s Cell Processor… Good Enough for PS4?
While it is still very early to say anything about the next generation of video game consoles now, we may have a faint idea of what to expect under the hood of the PS4. Chances are that Sony will likely continue to rely on the Cell processor for its next-gen system. After all the time and money invested, it wouldn’t make much sense to abandon the processor altogether, right? You can find the translated source here.

Microsoft Launches New Xbox Experience Website
Rumor has it that the New Xbox Experience dashboard will be available sometime in November, but nothing is confirmed as of yet. Microsoft did however launch its new website to help promote the New Xbox Experience dashboard. At the site, you can watch various demos about all of the new and exciting features that will become available. I personally found the old design more appealing, but to each his own I suppose. Check out the new site.
