Once disregarded as a misunderstood industry rumor, an upcoming Wii game co-developed by gaming superpowers Goichi Suda and Shigeru Miyamoto is all but released. An event such as this is generally regarded to be somewhere on the scale of mindblowingness between an average “BOOM! HEADSHOT!” and Budd Dwyer.
Goichi, commonly known as Suda 51, caught many by surprise over the past few years with the artistic eccentricity of his recent titles Killer7 and No More Heroes. Shigeru Miyamoto is a legend in the industry, creator of the Mario, Donkey Kong, and Zelda franchises, to name several.
Many have speculated exactly what a Suda 51-Miyamoto co-developed game would look like, but it would seem that an intentionally leaked screenshot and accompanying document from the Suda 51 are already answering gamers’ eager questions.
The text document described the working title as “WiiAllAssassinate.” Here are some further details from the leaked file: “With this game, we tried to combine both Miyamoto’s talent for creating original and engaging worlds and characters with my more unconventional style, as well as the unique, intuitive controls of the Wii console itself. I do not want to disclose too much of the plot, but here is a brief explanation: the player assumes the role of an everyday person who becomes an assassin in the dream world. The player assumes that these two worlds – conscious and dreaming – are of course separate, but it would seem that they are one and the same. You must fight your way out of one or the other with the help of your dreamfairy as well as your trusty pocketwatch (which turns into a lightsaber).
“The attached screenshot shows the standard gameplay format; I hope you find it a unique twist on some of your favorite classics.” –Suda 51
